Philosophy

In a competitive business environment increasingly shaped by the forces of globalization, applied, market-oriented innovation is key to safeguarding business success. To be innovative, you need to dovetail experience with up-to-the-minute specialist knowledge. They who dare, who are willing to try out new, often unconventional approaches, are innovators. At Steinbeis University, we have the teaching and training infrastructure it takes to step beyond conventional approaches and transfer knowledge which is not only based on specific scientific findings – it actively enables specialists and managers to practice innovative thinking.

Life-long learning, in parallel to a long-term career, is central to the SHB concept. On the one hand, our key priority is the company – with its requirements in terms of content and organization. On the other, is the simultaneous need to accommodate education and careers.

Encompassing more than 100 transfer companies, our network offers a broad selection of customized specialist degrees and training programs, carefully designed to provide specialists and managers with the qualifications business demands. The backbone of our philosophy is formed by the institutes, organized like a “company within the university company”. Each operates autonomously. The university is financed by project and tuition fees so it does not depend on state subsidies.

By focusing on the demands of vocational practice, Steinbeis has successfully established itself within the landscape of German universities as an independent service provider. There are currently 4000 students enrolled at the Steinbeis University. We work in partnership with a variety of sponsoring companies – confirmation that the Steinbeis concept works, fuelling our ambition to take on the challenges of the future.
