Our set of values
In times of constant change, we are constantly faced with new, sometimes major challenges. We can effectively meet them by equipping ourselves with the skills and competencies necessary to constructively deal with new things and find creative solutions that ultimately lead to new and relevant developments.
Steinbeis University of Applied Sciences is founded on the values embodied by our namesake Ferdinand von Steinbeis: inspiration, innovation, and action. Ferdinand von Steinbeis is regarded as the father of dual education; he attached great importance to the achievements of science for industrial progress and social life. As head of the Central Office for Trade and Industry, he therefore developed concepts for practice-oriented technology transfer as early as the mid-19th century—concepts that were implemented long after his time.

The culture of transfer
At Steinbeis University of Applied Sciences, we embrace Ferdinand von Steinbeis’s core idea of bringing research findings and acquired knowledge into practice. By developing sound competencies in our students, we aim to make a contribution to business and society and to advance the transfer of scientific theory into relevant practice. In doing so, we place great value on a vibrant intellectual and academic exchange—an exchange of ideas between lecturers, companies, and students, as well as with other universities and research institutions.
This exchange not only promotes interpersonal relationships but also excellence. Ideas grow through the transfer of ideas, which become impulses for important innovations. And connections are created that often last a lifetime, a strong network of skills. So it is no wonder that our alumni remain connected even after many years – with each other and with their university.

Knowledge and skills for sustainable solutions
Steinbeis University of Applied Sciences offers holistic education beyond short-term employability optimisation. Our educational ideal is that of a personality that develops and learns throughout life, repeatedly looking beyond the horizon—both one’s personal horizon and that of one’s own culture.
The focus of our commitment is therefore the ideal of a creative personality. We want to offer our students and corporate partners more than academic awards. Our goal is also to pave the way for economic and social impact: for sustainable, future-proof solutions.
